Slam Dunk Fever

It’s been a long time since I’ve ever watch a live basketball match. To be precise, I’ve never been to a real professional basketball tournament before. All I ever watched was the matches between students when I was in high school. Staying in Japan also mean drifting away from the sports I’ve ever involved myself in. But since Charlie got himself two free basketball passes this weekend, we have decided we might just enjoy the game with the locals at the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium.
The only thing we didn’t expect was that the crowd was tremendous. Since I don’t really take any interest in the Basketball field here in Japan, I never know that Osaka Evessa are the inaugural champions of the BJ league, from what I heard. It was a home game for Osaka Evessa, and the crowd was phenomenal when it comes to cheering for their home champions. Cheerleaders were all geared up for supporting dance moves and not forgetting the official team song. It was amazing watching a groups of teenage girls cheering and shouting their lungs out to support their favorite players.
In the end, Osaka Evessa beat Takamatsu Five Arrows 109 to 83. It was a good experience for both of us. And Lynn Washington rocks! Will be nicer if we get to watch one of the NBA games too… (grin)
